چکیده

This paper demonstrates cross-frequency coupling between pressure, heat release rate, fuel spray and velocity oscillations in a model aeronautical gas turbine combustor operating at pressure of approximately 10 atm. Heat rate was characterized by kHz chemiluminescence (CL) imaging several species. Stereoscopic particle image velocimetry laser Mie scattering from the droplets were used to measure dynamics, respectively, 5 kHz. The fluctuations dominated frequency f0, whereas spray, CL oscillated 2f0. All non-stationary, exhibiting temporal changes amplitude. Comparing time evolution dominant frequencies amplitudes indicated behaviour consistent with mutually coupled unsynchronized self-oscillators; observed dynamics are variations reactive strength. Specifically, increases ca. 2f0 away 1:2 harmonic ratio (increased detuning) correlated decreases power f0 oscillations. corresponding nonreacting flow had natural hydrodynamic mode slightly greater than Hence, data acoustic ‘pulling’ towards ratio.

Acoustic Behavior of a Partially-Premixed Gas Turbine Model Combustor

Combustion instabilities in gas turbine engines often give rise to acoustic resonances. These resonances occur as manifestations of different acoustic modes, of which a single or multiple modes may be present. In this work, the acoustic behavior of a model gas turbine combustor, developed at DLR Stuttgart by Meier, was investigated using both syn(thetic) gas and standard hydrocarbon fuels. Syng...

Large Eddy Simulation of a Gas Turbine Model Combustor

The current design of gas-turbine (GT) systems is driven by the need for increased powerdensities, improved fuel-efficiencies, and reduced life cycle costs and environmental impact. Computational techniques have the potential for providing valuable information for the design of GT combustion systems, if adequate models are available. Over recent years, remarkable progress has been made in the d...

Cross-Frequency Coupling of Neuronal Oscillations During Cognition

How the brain co-ordinates the actions of distant regions in an efficient manner is an open problem. Many believe that cross-frequency coupling between the amplitude of high frequency local field potential oscillations in one region and the phase of lower frequency signals in another may form a possible mechanism. This work provides a preliminary study from both an experimental and theoretical ...
